ALERTS!!!  (Vaad Phone 305-538-9751, email Vaadmiami@aol.com)

THE LIST OF APPROVED COLLECTORS WITH CURRENT CERTIFICATES IS BELOW!!
IT’S PROBABLY SHORTER THAN YOU THINK!!

We have been asked about certificates made by someone in an organization purporting to be the "Vaad of Miami, Hollywood and Boca Raton".  We do not believe that the organization expends significant effort to verify what is written on the certificates.  We have nothing to do with that organization, and do not rely on such certificates.

Thank you for your cooperation.

From time to time we take a leave of absence, especially during the summer.  However, we have always arranged with someone to prepare the certificates in our absence.  We still monitor the calls and make the decision whether to approve, and only upon approval will we attempt to put our assistant in contact with the applicant.

It has been brought to our attention that there are unscrupulous collectors who come to town using FORGED VAAD CERTIFICATES.  They obtain photocopies of legitimate certificates and substitute whatever name and date they wish.  We’ve heard that in some cases they leave the expiration date open, and they forge a signature or just insert the word "Vaad".

We request that you please examine whatever "Vaad card" is shown to you, and if it is false, please confiscate it from the collector if you can do so and contact us immediately.  We assert copyright on whatever is written on these cards, and we also have ownership of all the certificates bearing our name, which is signed off by all collectors when they get the card.

Look for 3 stampings of the circular official corporate seal on the right side of the card; top, bottom, and on the photograph. Sometimes these are hard to see, but they are there, and you should be able to feel the raised and lowered areas.

At this time, the authorized signature should have an appropriate signature, not simply the word "Vaad".  Make sure to check the expiration date!!

Also, make sure that the photo is consistent with the face in front of you.  Verify that the photo area hasn’t been tampered with, for example replacement or placement of a picture over the original one.  You may ask to see their passport and other ID in order to inhibit dishonest collectors from using certificates of others, whether stolen or borrowed.

DO NOT LET A LARGE GROUP OF COLLECTORS ENTER YOUR HOME OR OFFICE.  REGARDLESS OF HOW MANY OR HOW FEW ENTER, YOU MUST BE ABLE TO CONTROL THEM AND KEEP THEM IN SIGHT.  OTHERWISE, SEND THEM AWAY.  A FEW YEARS AGO, THE VAAD WAS ROBBED OF OVER $6500 IN CHECKS BY A GROUP OF ABOUT HALF A DOZEN MEN DRESSED AS YESHIVA STUDENTS. THEY USED DISTRACTION TECHNIQUES.

We will try to keep the following list updated, but when there is a heavy workload, or before Shabbos and Holidays, there may be a delay:
